Bubacarr A Batchilly, a Gambian entrepreneur in Los Angeles California recently launched Sahel Films which a lot of observers who tried it called “The Gambian Netflix” . Sahel Films is a provider of on-demand Internet streaming of African media available to viewers around the world.
According to Mr. Batchilly, “ the world has gone digital and I don’t think Africa should be left behind at all. We have all the talents and what it takes to shake the world. It’s left for us to create the platform where we can sell Africa. I created Sahel films to distribute African media and give African movie makers the opportunity to sell their products online, anywhere from movies, music videos, documentaries etc.
Yes, it is set up to be like Netflix but for now, it’s only pay per view. I started small and since I’m Gambian, I have to start local. The first movie distributed by Sahel Films is called “Once Upon A Time In Sahel” Conculuded Mr. Batchilly.
