Gambian Talents promotion wishes to announce the comeback of Mr Modou Thomas, the former General Manager of Gambia’s Radio One Fm. Thomas attended Serekunda Primary School and Muslim High School before going to Temasco in Ghana where he attended Datus Complex. He studied English literature writing and graduated with a degree in investigative reporting.
From Ghana, Thomas returned to The Gambia in 1999 and started working at Radio 1 FM as a News caster, producer and presenter of the famous “SUNDAY NEWS HOUR”. He did this for only 6 months and was promoted to be the head of News and current affairs department. After proving to be a successful leader, he was promoted as the General Manager of the radio and stayed in this position until 2002 when he travelled to the USA.
Besides the radio, Thomas also served as the president of the Gambia Journalists’ Association. Over the years, Modou Thomas produced and presented several radio programs both in The Gambia and in the US. He currently lives in Raleigh-North Carolina where he is very involved with the community. Starting October 10th 2014 and every Friday, Thomas will be hosting a new Radio show “Wakhtaan ak Thomas” on the Gambian Talents Radio. This show will dwell into the economic and socio-cultural life issues of Gambians both at home and abroad.
This must listened to show will be very enlightening and entertaining. Thomas will address a host of issues affecting the lives of Gambians in the diaspora, exclusive interviews and updates of Gambian events around the world.
