Your Change For A Change. Have they made any changes?

March 21st is a day put aside to commemorate International Women’s day, the Your Change For a Change (YCFAC) in collaboration with the American corner joined the rest world to mark the event subsided at the American corner Comium building, Kairaba Avenue with the theme ‘’inspiring change’’. A day’s consultative forum brought together dignitaries from various endeavors concerning women like Gamcotrap, students and some young women who are successful in their various societies.

Lamin Darboe country director YCFAC in his opening informed the audience that his organization distributed 1220 bed nets, lactated mothers and pregnant women for malaria prevention, organazed blood drives, cleansing exercises, and series of radio sensitization programs. According to Mmr Darboe, YCFAC also sponsored seminars on TB, mental health, cancer and a host of others and most importantly held the first health trade fair which brought together  17 health practitioners. It is in this regards that, the organization jointly commemorate the IWD in a bid to add their voices in the fight for women's empowerment.

Madam Isatou Jeng spoke on behalf of the guest speaker Dr.Isatou Touray of Gamcotrap, and challenged women to be in the fore-front in national development and help in inspiring change for the betterment of our dear country. She equally urges our women folk to help fight FGM as it is affecting the health of women. She lauded YCFAC and the American corner for their vision in organizing such an auspicious event.

Tida Jallow of Bassori, kombo East, shared her success story in the drive to empowering women, She informed the gathering of how she started her own business with as little as D200 and which now turns out to be Sister T's fashion design and cosmetics. Tida did not have western education, but today she is a role model to many young women. According to Tida, “as a woman, you need to be creative, innovative and give your best to all. Desire to go for development, have a vision and work towards attaining it.”

 This convergence, officials believe would have a positive bearing in the drive towards empowering the women folk.
