Masroor Senior Secondary School wins KKB Drama Competition

The 2nd  edition of the Kinkiliba Family Drama Competition took place on Friday April 11th 2014 at the Alliance Franco Gambienne on Kairaba Avenue. The event got bigger and better this year according to Mr Bakary Jadama (The president of the Kinkiliba family) “This year, we received sponsors from Paradise FM, Musico, DBC Quality Design and Gamcel as our main sponsors. We sent out invitations to schools and the youth organization community and five groups participated giving it their best. Bundung Home Red Cross Link (BHRL) came out 5th place, Kotu Senior Secondary School (KSSS) took 4th place, Nation Builders Association (NBA) came out 3rd place, Youths in Development and Change (YIDAC) came out 2nd place and Masroor Senior Secondary School (MSSS) came out 1st place and were crowned as the winners of this year’s KKB Drama competition. The first place winners received a cash prize of D10, 000, YIDAC got D5,000 and NBA got D2,500 respectively.

3 topics were chosen for the participants to choose from namely: 1) Should Child Labor on wages be allowed or not? 2) Should employment be based on papers or experience/skills? 3) Causes for the high rates of divorce!

A criterion was given to a 2 man panel of Judges Madam Musufing, manageress of Paradise FM, and Mr Latirr Carr of Word of Mouth/Blak Magique and they made their judgment based on that.

According to Mr Jadama, “It was the mostly tightly contested competition as all the drama teams came all out to stage the competition in a fashion I have never seen before as they used tactics that really flaunt my imagination.  To most people’s surprise, the winners of last year’s competition BHRL came to the bottom of the list, which I think was a very bold decision that the judges had to make and it also showed their professionalism. The second place contenders of last year MSSS came out first place and the second and third places are occupied by new comers to the competition. The event was attended by the general public, some dignitaries, members of the Gambia’s entertainment community and a couple of media reporters. The event was streamed live on (courtesy of MediaMatic)”

Mr Jadama thanked his entire team for putting the event together and everyone who supported and participated in this event.
