The management of the much anticipated “Situations” album launch scheduled for Friday 19th December 2014, regret to announce the unavoidable omission of guest artist Demarco for the launch. It is regrettable that despite all protocols followed in getting a contract with the artist and a promo video by Demarco fulfilling part of his obligations as per the contract details, we were informed of his cancellation by his management due to the “loss of his mother”. We offer our deepest condolences to Demarco and his family and pray for strength to be granted to him to go through this difficult period.
Nonetheless, Gee’s highly anticipated album launch “Situations” will hold as planned. The artist will be performing hit tracks from his new album with a list of Gambia’s hottest artists at The Independence Stadium this Friday, 19th December 2014. Due to the inconvenience caused by the situation surrounding Demarco’s cancellation, ticket prices have been reduced to accommodate all lovers of Gee’s music and Gambian music in general from 300 Dalasis to 250 Dalasis at the gate and 200 Dalasis for advance tickets.
The show will feature the Holy Family band and Humanity Starz backing the guest artists and Gee respectively. Tickets will be sold from the morning of the 19th at Kloset (Kairaba Avenue), Chop Shop (Fajara), RLG and the Comium head office on Kairaba Avenue.
We thank all the sponsors and partners for their support throughout a hectic four months of planning and will ensure that Gambia gets a show for the history books.
EDITORIAL: As stated above, Gee and his management team have been working very hard for the past 4 months to put together this event. In an interview with Ya Sally Njie a.k.a Sister Njie of “Wah sa halat” 2 weeks ago, Gee told his listeners that one of the reasons why they chose to do the show at the stadium is because they were expecting a big Jamaican artist Demarco as one of the main highlights for the night. Now that Demarco is no longer coming, our question is, Will Gambians still support Gee and the other local artists? Will there be any difference between this event and the Open Mic festival? Few more hours to go so the countdown begins from when you read this piece.
